We made it to Whitehorse and thought we were going to have to sleep on the side of the road. All the campgrounds were booked. I managed to find a boondocker in Whitehorse for our second night when we came to the last campground in Whitehorse and they had an opening. We would have stayed two nights there but we had already booked for our second night. Anyway. we made it and we finally heard from Judy and Mike. They were only 5 hours away and would be there the next night. John and I had lunch at Burnt Toast in downtown Whitehorse, then we hit up a quilt store and a yarn store. Oh yeah! I found some really nice yard and started to knit my second scarf since I left home. I am remembering how much fun knitting was.

Judy and Mike arrived in Whitehorse and we planned to meet at G& P on Main. We had asked at the visitor center where the best pizza was and that is what she suggested. Fancy shmancy. Tablecloths and all. Most important, they had a bar. Unfortunately I am the only one who wanted a drink. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I had. It was amazing, from presentation to the last licked drop.

We had to take our picture after dinner as it was really dark inside. I don’t even think a flash would have worked. But everything was delicious.
We left the next morning for Alaska! What a beautiful drive–not the road, the views.

Judy got this great shot of us driving the Alcan. I would have loved to get one of them but, Mike liked being behind us to see where we bounced so he knew which direction to go. lol
