Rome

We disembarked a couple hours away from Rome. We arrived really early to our apartment located just a block from the Colosseum. Our accomadations were top notch and the staff could not have been better. We placed our things in the room and headed out to the Colosseum and for coffee. Then we headed via taxi to Vatican City. Super hot day and super crowded.

This is really just a hodge podge of pictures. Naturally we have been home for over a month and I need to finish this up before I forget things. I know I took a nap and John went to a church to light a candle for a friend of mine. I sure did appreciate that because I could not handle the heat. After the Vatican we had lunch at a really cute restaurant where the staff was great and so was the food.

When we returned to our apartment after the Vatican we had a little suprise in our room.

We went to dinner and met all the Brandt’s at a special restaurant. Everything was delicious. We ate, came home and walked to the Colosseum one last time to see it at night.

My journey with sewing began when I was just seven or eight years old. My grandmother was a talented seamstress, and she introduced me to the world of fabric, thread, and creativity. Under her guidance, I learned the basics of sewing and spent many years making clothing and other projects. Despite growing up in a family of quilters, I always insisted that quilting wasn't for me. While my sisters happily pieced together quilts, I was convinced I would never make one myself.Life, however, had other plans. In 2018, my mother came to live with me, and together we began spending time quilting. What started as an opportunity to share time with her quickly became a passion I never expected. Before long, I found myself completely immersed in the art of quilting, discovering the joy, creativity, and sense of accomplishment that comes with turning fabric into something beautiful and meaningful. Since then, quilting has become much more than a hobby. It has become a way to honor the generations of women who taught me, preserve traditional sewing skills, and create lasting memories through handmade craftsmanship. Today, I am continuing that tradition by teaching my son everything I know about sewing, piecing, embroidery, and quilting. Together, we are building Sew Together—a place where creativity, family, and quilting come together one stitch at a time. I believe every quilt tells a story, and I am grateful to be sharing mine while helping others create stories of their own.
